Stunning Oak Quarter Landing Staircase In Worcester
For our recent Worcester project, we supplied a bespoke quarter landing oak staircase that blends traditional warmth with contemporary style. Using locally sourced European Oak, it features sleek metal elements for a striking contrast.
The design highlights a statement window, enhancing the home’s architectural character. To add a modern touch, an innovative spindle combination was used, pairing 12.5mm square metal spindles with slender rectangular designs, creating a refined yet distinctive look.
Custom Oak Cut String Staircase in Clifton, Bristol
For a private homeowner in Clifton, Bristol, we completed a stunning bespoke staircase that transformed the heart of their home. Collaborating closely with the homeowner, we tailored every element—from the cut string double winder design to the use of premium oak treads and handrails—to meet their vision perfectly.
The staircase, crafted to blend seamlessly with the property’s unique style, features solid oak elements pre-finished for a sleek, sophisticated look. With mitred risers, pocketed treads, and laminated oak components, this project exemplifies both innovation and timeless design. It was a delight working with our Clifton client to bring their dream staircase to life, adding yet another masterpiece to The Stair Guys’ growing portfolio.
Painted Redwood Staircase in Herefordshire
For Range Builders LTD, located near our Herefordshire base, we adapted a project after discussions with Gary led to a redesign of the trusses to meet legal headroom requirements for first-floor access.
The staircase, supplied in unfinished redwood intended for a carpet and paint finish, showcases an appealing contrast between black and white. Notably, the design features a charming seating area beneath the structural post and a gallery landing, adding unique elements to the space. Working with Range Builders LTD has been a pleasure, continuing a long-standing collaboration.
Oxfordshire New Build
The up and over continuous rectangular handrail, known for its contemporary appeal at minimal cost, was the choice for our client’s new build project in Princes Risborough. Opting for white primed strings, newel posts, handrail, and baserail not only saved time but also reduced costs on-site. The addition of 12.5mm metal square spindles enhances the staircase’s modern look, creating a striking color contrast that captivates as soon as you enter the home.
If you have a project and are looking for staircase solutions that allow you to focus on the broader aspects of your work, we’re here to help. Get in touch with The Stair Guys to see how we can support your next project.
Lincolnshire up and over handrail
We recently completed another project for a valued client in Lincolnshire, featuring our popular up and over handrail design. This staircase was delivered fully primed with oak treads. The client then applied a dark paint to the primed areas, creating a stunning contrast that beautifully complements the final oak top nosing and the tiled floor above. To enhance the contemporary aesthetic, plain metal spindles were chosen, adding a sleek and modern touch.
For this project, we provided all necessary quarter landing materials, including tongue and groove boards, joists, and skirting, simplifying the installation process for the client. If you’re looking for unique staircase solutions at affordable prices, The Stair Guys are here to help.

We frequently encounter the question, “Do you provide standard staircases?” Our answer is a resounding yes. In fact, the bulk of our projects involves crafting staircases similar to those we supplied for a recent venture: a charming development of 11 holiday homes in Somerset.Â
While these staircases might not fall into the ‘feature’ category, they receive the same level of dedication and precision. Each staircase is meticulously measured by our team, and we offer a diverse range of supply options tailored to meet various budget needs.Â

Oxfordshire Project
This is a beautiful staircase we sourced for a long standing client in Oxfordshire.
The stair itself, white primed cut string with white primed risers. Finished off with 32mm square edged oak treads.
Oak square slender newel posts, complimented with an up and over style handrail. Complimented by 12.5mm black metal spindles, all pocketed into the treads.
An absolute pleasure to play a part in this beautiful barn conversion.
Somerset Conversion
This barn conversion project was an absolute privilege to be part of.
320mm deep solid oak strings to hide the cranked steel supporting the quarter turn landing. Comprising Whitewood treads and ply risers, with a solid oak central carriageway / under carriage to reduce the flex in the flight itself.
A near 9m return of glass covering off the gallery landing area, landing on a cantilevered joist giving it the illusion of floating.
The large embedded glass panels with the square newel posts and square section handrail look absolutely amazing.
Chard Barn Conversion
Over the past couple of months we have been fortunate to be supplying a number of new builds.
This is one of three barn conversions we have sorted for a client in Somerset.
All solid oak, with no engineered or veneered elements. Square newel posts, a square profile handrail and square feature treads along with the embedded glass give the flights a really contemporary look.
They are a fantastic statement piece when you enter from the front door.
Oxford Refurb with open riser
A recently sourced flight to one of our regular clients in Oxfordshire..
Oak open rise, with the entirety of the flight being solid oak, one piece string, solid oak treads and four-piece newel posts. The balustrade comprised square profile handrail and finished off with 10mm embedded glass.
We would like to thank Alan the client for this recent five-star review that he left for us, we look forward to working with you again.
Cotswold classic
Combine traditional wooden cut string staircase with recessed metal spindles
An absolutely beautiful flight for JWS Cotswold Builders, on one of their current projects. A traditional style given a modern twist with the recessed spindles and exposed edges of the stairs show of the craftsmanship of the staircase
Solid oak cut string flight with Barley twist newel posts and intermittent metal contemporary spindles.
Truly a fantastic job to be part of and a pleasure to work with them as always.
Kent Cottage Quarter Landing
Two quarter landing flights supplied unfinished. Redwood strings, newels, spindles and baserails.
With oak handrail and newel caps to finish it off. Treads also in 32mm redwood and the risers are ply for a final carpet finish.Â
Here we also supplied the stair with a central string (under carriage) to reduce any potential bounce due to the width of the stair.
The stairs were supplied with the quarter landing boards – 32mm redwood to suit the treads and whitewood landing joists, cut to size to save time on installation.
Welford-on-Avon solid oak
A recent supply for the guys at @goldhawkdevelopments in a truly amazing oak framed building made by @oakwrights
A primed string with the treads and risers to be carpeted after the solid oak bullnose feature step.
Solid oak square newel posts, with a chamfered top to finish them off. Square profile oak handrail with oak baserail, finished off with square 12.5mm black metal spindles.
Something a little different, but really compliments the rest of the build.
Porlock Oak and Glass project
Solid oak (including treads and risers) with no engineered elements, with two part solid oak newels, with 10mm glass on square brackets.
I’m absolutely in awe of the quality of the product and the level of finish by the team at Westcott, not only on the stairs but throughout the build itself.
The end customer is over the moon with the stairs, they are such an integral part of the entrance hall of the property. Feedback like that is genuinely why we do what we do.
